When we experience outrage by the immorality of others, we always have to rule out envy as an ulterior motive. If we are in any way resentful, that is a dead giveaway that our heart is not in the right place. Like a child we may think, “Why do they get to do X and not get in trouble?” The truth is that our reactions are only trustworthy when they spring from a pure heart.
