People, like Christ, who seek out the pain of others, are the exception, not the rule. Christ had so much love and power in himself that the weaknesses of others did not threaten his person nor his peace of mind.
Oftentimes, we think that the powerful are the ones repelled by pain, but the truth is actually the opposite. Insecurity is often what drives people to shy away from the more painful aspects of the human condition.
