Unlike an addiction to, say, drugs or alcohol, with pornography there is no public element. You don’t have to go buy drinks or find a drug dealer. People don’t see you intoxicated or on a trip. As a result, pornography addiction has become a silent epidemic. On one hand, people aren’t facing any immediate pressure to change. On the other hand, many in the cultural mainstream do not even acknowledge the problem, or aren’t willing or able to help out.
