Today, I’ve transcribed a short clip by none other than Elon Musk sounding off on the topic of sex. In the clip, Musk expresses his observation that a great deal of thinking has gone into the sex act, independent of its productive capabilities. Musk, evidently, is a practitioner of what he preaches. Musk has been married twice and has seven sons. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO is also notorious for being quite productive out of the bedroom, reportedly working a “sustainable” 80-90 hours a week (Elon Musk lifestyle).

Check out this provocative quote by the tech magnate and crypto enthusiast (original Musk on sex).

A massive amount of thinking, like truly stupendous amount of thinking, has gone into sex. Without purpose–without procreation, without procreation. Which is actually quite a silly action in the absence of procreation. It’s a bit silly. So why are you doing it? Because it makes the limbic system happy, that’s why. But its’ pretty absurd really… But I mean, a lot of computation has gone into, “How can I do more of that?” without procreation even being a factor.

Elon Musk

Musk is no stranger to controversy; he recently attacked the SEC (see Musk 1) and Justin Trudeau (see Musk 2); and is known for his contentious views on issues like Covid and the health of the planet (see Musk 3). Regardless of what you think about the aforementioned quote, implicit within the subtext are the possibilities of sexual transmutation.

Celebrities On Sexual Transmutation

20th century self-help guru Napoleon Hill, author of Think And Grow Rich and Keys To Success eloquently captured the idea:

Napoleon Hill

Sex desire is theg most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, men develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times. So strong and impelling is the desire for sexual contact that men freely run the risk of life and reputation to indulge it. When harnessed, and redirected along other lines, this motivating force maintains all of its attributes of keenness of imagination, courage, etc., which may be used as powerful creative forces in literature, art, or in any other profession or calling, including, of course, the accumulation of riches.

Nikola Tesla, the namesake of Elon Musk’s entrepreneurial brainchild, commented on the universal extravagance brought about by excessive sexual expression during the prime of life.

The mere possession of sex energy itself is not sufficient to produce genius. The energy must be transmuted from desire for merely physical contact, into some other form of desire and action before it will lift one to the status of a genius.

One major reason why the majority of people who succeed do not begin to do so before the age of 40 to 50 is their tendency to dissipate their energies through overindulgence in the physical expression of the emotion of sex.

Mokokoma Mokhonoana, South African social critic, philosopher, and humorist (see Mokhonoana), hit on the essence of sexual transmutation with the following pithy remark.

Sexual energy is all too often wasted on masturbation … or sex.

It stands to reason that sexual transmutation would also apply to PMO, given how much time and energy it takes away from people’s lives. People who practice NoFap anecdotally report increased gains in the gym and performance at work, school, and real-life relationships (e.g. semen retention); whereas other people find these claims to be exaggerated.

That is a lot of food for thought. . .

Do you believe that people spend too much energy pursuing sexual gratification? That sexual transmutation is a real thing/worthwhile pursuit?
